Award winning artist, filmmaker and photographer Ravi Deepres has established an international reputation for his still and moving image work. His work deals with identity and the influence of subconscious and psychological states expressed through choreographic and kinetically employed aesthetics. His film and photographic collaborations with globally renowned choreographers including Saburo Teshigawara, Wayne McGregor and Michael Clark, have been seen at the Palais Garnier, Edinburgh Festival and in theatres and festivals around the world including Japan, Europe and the U.S.
This afternoon he’ll be discussing his practice, focussing on three works, Tremor, made for the UK’s TV channel, Channel 4. Legacy - A conceptual documentary film mixing archive and specially shot footage highlighting the transformation around the current Stratford site to commemorate the cultural opening of the London Olympics 2012. And Woolf Works - The Royal Ballet’s show directed by Wayne McGregor, for which Ravi lead on the film design.
After Ravi’s talk, there’ll be a selection of screen dance short films handpicked from all over the globe.
